Description

Guerila 'Retro' Selection White 2019 is a captivating white wine that showcases the quality and unique character of the vineyards in the Vipava Valley, Slovenia. Fresh, biodynamic & incredibly fragrant

Grape Varietals & Region: Guerila 'Retro' Selection White is a blend of different grape varietals sourced from vineyards in the Vipava Valley, Slovenia. An orange wine made from the native Zelen, Pinella, Rebula and Malvasía varieties cultivated in the Vipava Valley on soil composed of sand, sandstone, marl, limestone and clay.

Taste Profile: This white wine offers a vibrant and expressive taste profile. Guerila Retro Selection White 2019 is a creamy, bright golden yellow orange wine with aromas of dried flowers, ripe fruit notes and hints of honey. The palate is smooth, elegant and harmonious. A medium-bodied wine with marked acidity and lots of minerality. The finish is long, fresh and slightly saline.

Winemaking Process: Guerila 'Retro' Selection White is crafted with great care and attention to detail. The key in the vineyard is harmony and balance, so he strictly adheres to the principles of biodynamics and all work is carried out in line with the natural cycles of the biodynamic calendar. After all the varieties have been manually harvested, the grapes are macerated for a week. Spontaneous fermentation is then initiated with natural yeasts from the grape skins. The must is then gently pressed and bottled in old oak barrels, where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and aging on the lees for 12 months. Finally, the wine is bottled without filtration and with a minimal addition of sulphur following the biodynamic calendar.

The winemakers at Guerila are passionate about producing high-quality wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Vipava Valley. They employ sustainable and environmentally friendly practices in their vineyards and follow a minimal intervention approach in the winemaking process. Their dedication and expertise result in wines that truly express the essence of the region.
