Description

Artemis Karamolegos Pyritis Mega Cuvée 2020

Artemis Karamolegos Pyritis Mega Cuvée is the winery's premium label. A pure and stoic expression of Santorini's mineral dimension, as well as the unique mature character and balance that Assyrtiko acquires during ageing.

Opens with a pure flint and mineral nose with notes of dried peaches, tart lemon citrus and hints of almonds. The rich and dense palate exhibits a well-balanced acidity and incredible depth, finesse and concentration. Closes in a long and salty mineral aftertaste.

Ageing potential: At least a decade!

100% Assytriko. The fruit comes from three vineyards of centenarian Assyrtiko vines that are over 120 years-old, two in Pyrgos and one in Megalochori. These two villages are highly regarded for producing top quality grapes. The vines grow in arid-dry soil of volcanic origin and sandy composition.

Minimal intervention vinification under controlled temperature using only neutral yeasts in order to maintain the varietal character. After fermentation, the wine ages on total lees for 10 months with regular lees stirring. Bottle ageing for 5 months before its release to the market.
