Description

Concha y Toro Terrunyo Malbec 2016

Concha y Toro Terrunyo Malbec has intense red color with violet hues. Aromas of cherry, fresh prune and elegant floral notes. The palate is fresh with juicy tannins, great texture, and a pleasant and long finish. Ideal to accompany a "provoleta" with oregano and olive oil. Grilled red meat with lemon and pepper.

Grapes were destemmed and crushed with pre-fermentative maceration for 72 h at 4-6ºC. This is followed by traditional fermentation for 20 days at 24-26ºC in stainless steel tanks. Post-fermentative maceration 2-5 days with natural malolactic fermentation.

The vineyard is located in Uco Valley at 1000-1200 m above sea level. The soil is alluvial, located above the alluvial corre formed by the Tunuyán River. The first layer has a sandy-loam profile, with small, colluvial stones and calcium carbonate deposits that continue to 60 cm deep. The next layer becomes sandy, with abundant medium-sized colluvial stones to a depth of 1.5 m. Beneath this is an underlying layer predominantly defined by 30 cm thick limestone that sits above a sandy layer with colluvial stones.

The weather is dry, continental, with good exposure to the sun allowing an excellent maturation of the grapes. Thermal amplitude 15 to 20°C.
