Description

Chateau Sociando-Mallet Haut-Médoc Rouge 2010

Château Sociando-Mallet has always been a wine with great ageing potential. A wine to be enjoyed even after 30 years in great vintages.

Grape Varietals & Regions: Sociando-Mallet's terroir consists of Günz gravel over a deep layer of clay-limestone soil. This terroir perfectly regulates water supply and enables Cabernet Sauvignon to ripen extremely well and Merlot to acquire depth and complexity. This terroir is Sociando's soul. It provides the wine with complex structure, freshness, and elegance.

The vineyards, which lie close to the Gironde Estuary, are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (25%), Cabernet Franc (25%) and Petit Verdot (5%).

Taste Profile: Freshly ripe and minerally to smell, a fine black-fruit character. Very nicely balanced; concentrated without being big or strong or raisiny. Plenty of freshly ripe, mineral-infused pebbly fruit; long and fragrant and classic Bordeaux in style. A fine, sweet, yet transparent core fruit: flavorsome, aromatic, persistent. Fine, elegant claret proportions and flavor. Very nice.

Winemaking Process: The grapes are handpicked and then fermented in a combination of stainless steel and concrete tanks. The wines are matured in oak barrels (70-90% new) for 12-15 months. They are bottled unfined and unfiltered.
