Description

Poppelvej is a small and passionate winery founded by Uffe Deichmann, a Danish sommelier-turned-winemaker, with the help of his brother Jens.

The name "Poppelvej" pays tribute to the family home property where the poplar trees grow. Uffe employs minimal intervention winemaking methods, using wild ferments and low amounts of sulfur, while fermenting the wines in an array of oak vessels and massive black concrete eggs.

This winemaking approach creates the perfect environment for his firecracker red wines, including the Dancing in the Doldrums Pinot Meunier 2022. Uffe sourced a small parcel of Pinot Meunier grapes from a vineyard in the Adelaide Hills, and fermented it as whole clusters with a short time on skins before pressing. The resulting wine is fresh, spicy, and playful with a red fruited, nervy character. It's the perfect chilled wine for laid-back drinking.

"More Meunier please," is a testament to Uffe's winemaking skills and passion for producing high-quality, varietal Pinot Meunier.
