Description

Guerila 'Retro' Selection Red 2018 is an intriguing red wine that showcases the richness and depth of the Vipava Valley, Slovenia.

Grape Varietals & Region: Guerila 'Retro' Selection Red is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet France & Barbera sourced from vineyards in the Vipava Valley, Slovenia. These vines lie at an altitude of 250 to 450 metres above sea level on soil composed of sand, sandstone, marl, limestone and clay

Taste Profile: This red wine offers a captivating taste profile that combines richness and elegance. Guerila Retro Selection Red 2018 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of ripe black fruits, spicy notes and hints of graphite. On the palate it is rich, complex and elegant. A full-bodied wine with silky tannins, pleasant freshness and an exceptionally long aftertaste.

Winemaking Process: Guerila 'Retro' Selection Red is crafted with meticulous attention to detail. Zmago Petric's idea of viticulture is based on a great respect for nature and using organic practices and compost and biodynamic preparations to increase the natural resistance of the plants. All varieties are harvested by hand at the same time. In the winery, the pressed grapes macerate for 4 weeks and ferment spontaneously with native yeasts. The wine then ages in foudres for 24 months. Finally, it is bottled following the biodynamic calendar adding minimal sulpur and without filtration.

The winemakers at Guerila are dedicated to expressing the unique terroir of the Vipava Valley in their wines. They strive to cultivate the vines using sustainable practices and work with a minimal intervention approach in the cellar, allowing the grapes to shine through. Their passion for winemaking is evident in the exceptional quality and character of their wines.
