Pomerol, Saint-Emilion’s neighbour, is located to the north-east of Libourne and is the smallest of Bordeaux’s prestigious appellations
Grape Varietals & Regions: 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc from vines of an average age of 35-40 years on Clay-gravel and slightly sandy soils located on the south-east border of the famous Pomerol plateau
Taste Profile: This wine exhibits an attractive deep purple colour. Great complexity is shown in an aromatic bouquet of floral notes (violets), fruit aromas (blackcurrants) and hints of spice (cayenne pepper). The whole is enveloped in very delicate toasty aromas. The attack is smooth and unctuous; the tannins are round, juicy and spicy. Lovely volume on the palate is combined with power and freshness. The finish is long and displays the wine’s great pedigree character
Winemaking Process: Extended maceration for 4 weeks, followed by malocatic fermentation in new barrels for the Merlot, and stainless steel vats for the Cabernet Franc. The wine is then aged in 50% new barrels for 18 months
