In 1982, Gerhard Grans took over the winery from his father Matthias with a vineyard area of 4 hectares. He slowly and steadily expanded the vineyard with the best sites and has since focused on top quality dry wines, which currently make up 80% of their current range. Today, they cultivate 12 hectares of vineyards with the main grape variety of 90% Riesling. Their assortment is supplemented by Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris.
The winery is currently run by the family's thirteenth generation and upholds the philosophy that the prerequisite for producing world-class wines is the possession of the best locations and intensive vineyard care. Grans-Fassian focuses on producing high-class wines with their own personality that encapsulate landscape and feeling.
Grans-Fassian have been a proud member of the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates (VDP) since 2001. The trademark of the VDP consistently signals exceptional qualities. The best vineyards of the winery are classified in the highest category as VDP.Grosse Lage®.
