Juan Gil "12 Meses" Silver Label Monastrell 2021
Founded in 1916 by a stonemason who decided to bottle Jumilla's oldest grape instead — four generations of the same family still do.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Monastrell, the reigning red grape variety in Jumilla, Spain. The grapes come from a single estate of old vines over forty years old, planted on soils of limestone and stone at around 800 metres above sea level — altitude that keeps the fruit from turning jammy despite Jumilla's baking summers.
Taste Profile: Powerful, voluminous and expressive, with lots of personality. Intense aromas of ripe fruit accompanied by spicy notes on the nose. On the palate, it surprises with delicious velvety tannins that harmoniously accompany flavours of ripe black fruit, with characteristic hints from its ageing. A powerful, warm and silky red, delightfully seductive.
Winemaking Process: Malolactic fermentation and ageing both take place in French oak barrels, for 12 months — the "12 Meses" of the name is exactly that, no more, no less.
Winemaker: Bodegas Juan Gil was founded in 1916 by Juan Gil Giménez, a stonemason, in the heart of Jumilla. His son Juan Gil Guerrero and later his grandson Juan Gil González carried the winery forward, applying traditional practices that made it a reference point for the region. When Juan Gil González died in 1977, his widow Rosario Vera raised their nine children to keep the family business intact rather than sell it off. The fourth generation now runs Gil Family Estates, an eleven-winery group spread across Spain — still headquartered at the original Jumilla winery where it all started.

We hate the disappointment of opening an off-drinking bottle of wine – as much as a kid seeing their scoop of ice cream fall to the ground (Yes, it hurts).
Simply contact us within 7 days of receiving your wines to let us know why you’re not satisfied and drop off the remaining unused wines back to us. The bottle will have to be at least 3/4 full and the same wine the bottle is in (duh).
Once we verify that the the wine was corked or damaged, we will process the refund.
