Established as a farm in 1861, the estate produced the first commercially available Pinotage in 1961 under the Lanzerac label. Since then, the farm has remained in the family, releasing wines under their own label since 2000

Description

Bellevue Estate Reserve Pinotage 2020

Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Pinotage coming from the Bottelary Hills, just northwest of Stellenbosch, South Africa

Taste Profile: This powerful and concentrated wine boasts with bold flavours of raspberry, maraschino cherry and ripe plums intertwined with the subtle notes of cedar wood. The nose and palate are supported by dense, fine-grained tannins that end in a clean, lingering mouth feel.

Winemaking Process: The fruit was cold soaked before fermentation in steel tanks for 5 days, undergoing thrice daily pump overs. The wine is then transferred to oak, where it undergoes malolactic fermentation & matures for 22 months in a mix of new & used French oak barrels

Shouldered & Powerful Reds

Powerful modern reds with the ability to age. They tend to be very intense, with ripe fruit, firm tannins & drinkability either young or cellared.
