Martinelli Zinfandel Vigneto di Evo is a barrel-blend from select Martinelli single vineyard zinfandel sites. A first swirl of the glass introduces you to inviting raspberry, black cherry and white peach aromas. Powerful concentration of ripe red cherry, pepper and liquorice spice flavours on the palate are followed by firm tannins and a lasting pomegranate finish.
Fun Fact: This bottling was named after Evo Martinelli, who was raised on Martinelli Road. He was Lee Sr.’s first cousin, the son of Fred Martinelli. Evo gave Lee Sr. one of his first jobs out of the vineyard and instilled the importance of going to college in him as a young man. Lee Sr. went on to become a premium grape grower and is in great demand from many wineries.
100% Zinfandel. The fruit for this wine comes from select Martinelli single vineyard zinfandel sites: Jackass, Vellutini, Lolita and Giuseppe & Luisa. The Vellutini, Lolita and Giuseppe & Luisa vineyards were planted with cuttings from Martinelli's 135 year-old Jackass Zinfandel clones. The cool climate of the Russian River Valley allows deep, darker flavours to develop in the grapes.
