At Domaine Gérard Fiou in Saint-Satur, Florent Bourgeois makes the most of his old vines and the vein of flint that runs along the Loire River to make bright, lively Sancerre wines that respect the environment and the soil.

Domaine Gerard Fiou Sancerre Rouge AOP 2020

Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Pinot Noir from old vines planted on clay-silica soils with a south western exposure

Taste Profile: This wine of deep ruby colors develops aromas of very ripe mature red fruits (Morella cherries, plums...) and vanilla. Its great concentration (old vines with small yield) shows a pleasant structure that can age for a good couple years.

Winemaking Process: The alcoholic fermentation is made in stainless steel thermo regulated tanks between 26 and 32°C. During this time, grapes are punched down twice a day until the wine erupts over the cap to extract the best colors and the ripest tannins. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 6 months in oak barrels.

From Barolo to Bordeaux, these wines are steeped in tradition. The style covers a broad spectrum of flavor profiles, but tend to be elegant and structured and can be cellared for a long time.

These wines often have savoury tones of earth, bell pepper, tobacco, cassis, and are often medium to full bodied, with long finish & structured palattes
