Alves de Sousa Branco da Gaivosa 2019
Alves de Sousa Branco da Gaivosa was one of the first Douro white wines from the 90s “new Douro” revolution, with its first vintage being released in 1992. Bright and citric. Very expressive and elegant bouquet of white flowers, fresh melon and a light vanilla hint. Full-bodied but very fresh, mineral and complex.
Varietals: Malvasia fina, Gouveio, Arinto. The fruit comes from the highest and coolest points of Gaivosa in the heart of the Duoro Valley. The vines grow in vineyards with schist soils and a North and East facing exposure.
After harvesting, the grapes go through a soft pressing and decanting. Fermentation at cold temperatures. The wine ages over fine lees with 70% in stainless steel tanks and 30% in French oak with "batonnage" for 4 months.
