Eikendal Vineyards

Eikendal Vineyards, owned by the Saager family from Switzerland, is a distinct landmark in the Stellenbosch Winelands – a popular wine destination in the Cape's premier wine region known for its international acclaim in producing world-class wines.

Situated on the foothills of the Helderberg Mountains in the famed “Golden Triangle” of South Africa's wine production, Eikendal flourishes with its quintessential terroir where fertile soil compositions and the cool ocean breezes of the nearby Atlantic, naturally intertwine to create premium wines.

Fringed by towering oaks and stone pines, this striking barrel-vaulted cellar was one of the first in the Cape to combine traditional and modern elements, thereby creating a new South African style of winery architecture and wines.

Eikendal lures with an extensive range of wines that speak of passion and prowess, each masterly crafted by innovative Cellar Master, Nico Grobler. The premium wines from its Icon range include the cellar's flagship Bordeaux style red blend, Classique, as well as a wooded Chardonnay.

Eikendal’s wines have an impressive history of outstanding results and ratings from a host of South African and international wine entities.

The acclaimed unwooded Chardonnay, Janina, named after the owners' first granddaughter, teams up with a Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc/Chardonnay, Merlot Rosé, Shiraz/Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot and a Shiraz blend called, Charisma, to form an impressive line-up.

Eikendal comprises 78ha (173 acres) of cultivated vineyards, 50% of which are red and 50% are white varieties, resulting an overall average production of 400,000 bottles of wine per year.

Combine a relaxed Eikendal Wine Tasting or Chocolate Pairing with a Kiddies Cooking Tasting, Vineyard Walk, a visit to the Cheetah Outreach or a hearty meal at Giovanni’s Restaurant on the water's edge.
