Zenato Valpolicella DOC Classico Superiore 2018

A soft, supple example of this classic wine. Zenato Valpolicella DOC Classico Superiore 2018 has an impressive lingering finish with rich flavour.
Ruby red colour. Delicate aromas of maraschino cherries, wild berries and blackcurrants with a hint of chocolate and spices. The dry and robust palate has a good structure, velvety texture and fine tannins. Smooth cherry and prune flavours with a dash of liquorice, chocolate, tobacco spice and a mineral backbone. Zenato Valpolicella Classico Superiore is a wine that combines in the glass body and freshness, showing its best cards with its fruity fragrance. A wine that, thanks to its pleasant scents and an elegant and velvety palate, shows really beautifully.

85% Corvina Veronese, 10% Rondinella and 5% Corvinone. The grapes for this wine come from vineyards in a hilly zone of Sant’Ambrogio in Valpolicella. The vineyards sit on an altitude of 250–300 metres with a southeastern and southwestern exposure. The vines have an average age of 10–15 years and grow in clay and calcareous soils that are rich in rock fragments.
After manual harvesting and destemming of the grapes, traditional maceration begins in stainless steel fermenters for 10 days. After alcoholic fermentation, light pressing separates the skin from the new wine. The wine then ages in French oak casks for about 12 months.
Today the company Zenato is now in the fiftieth year of operation, while maintaining the simple and modern impression desired by Sergio Zenato, author of the beginning of this adventure. Zenato represent a company that possesses a strong link to the richness of its local history and culture, and continues to develop this connection today. The estate is based in a territory that surrounds Lake Garda, an area with an extraordinary microclimate that allows the perfect maturation of the grapes. The Zenato family is passionate in their dedication, vigorous research and innovation which translates to the continuing improvement of their wines. Even this Valpolicella Classico Superiore is surely up to the reputation of the winery.
