Xanadu Estate Chardonnay 2017
A modern, sophisticated and striking Chardonnay displaying classic Margaret River hallmarks.
Made entirely from Gingin clone, the fruit was whole bunch pressed and was all barrel fermented in select French oak barriques (22% new oak). Wild fermentation was encouraged on all of the components, in order to introduce more complexity and personality into the wine. All of the individual batches which make up the blend were lees stirred throughout a nine-month oak maturation period, without any malolactic fermentation.

AWARDS & ACCOLADES
Ethereal, intriguing nose of yellow fruits, wild flowers and citrus. Hints of wet stone and green apple on the palate, leading to a very long finish
- 95 PTS
Contract-grown fruit is whole-bunch pressed and wild-fermented in French oak (25% new), lees-stirred, mlf prevented, matured for 9 months. Elegantly composed and balanced, with white peach, pear and citrus flavours spread across a lengthy canvas. An each way bet, now or later. Xanadu at work again.
Peach-custard and clotted-cream notes here with attractive lemons, all making for a complex young Chardonnay. The drive of rich and concentrated peaches and lemons is impressive, as well as the cool, fleshy tones through the finish.
