Hidaspetre is hemmed in by forests and loess walls and is one of the northernmost vineyards in Szekszárd. Two Bordeaux Cabs plus Hungary's own Kékfrankos and a splash of Carménère make this a blend that's very much its own thing.

Taste Profile: The importer calls it generous, well-balanced and serious, with the kind of intensity usually associated with New World wines, and one of the most distinctive wines in the Vida range. Detailed tasting notes weren't published for this vintage; as a Cab-led blend of this weight, it should suit steak, lamb or a slow braise.

Winemaking Process: Fermented in cool conditions, then aged for two years in used 500-litre Hungarian oak barrels. 14% ABV.

Winemaker: Zsuzsi Vida took over the estate's cellar from the 2020 vintage. In her words: "We've always been searching for what would bring us closer to elegant, generous wines." The family started in the Bakta vineyard and now farms about 23 hectares across six sites, with a growing focus on vineyard sites, local varieties and softer-textured reds.
