Description
Trail Estate 2017 Chardonnay Vintage Two Unfiltered
To Chardonnay and beyond! Here's a show-stopper Chardonnay with a great rhythm and very deft use of oak.
VQA Prince Edward County VQA
Hand harvested when the fruit reached optimum ripeness from Trail Estate's vineyard, and pressed whole-cluster. Wild-fermented and put to barrel half-way through the ferment. All-French barrels used with a ratio of 22% New, 22% 2nd-fill and 56% neutral oak in both 225L and 500L sizes. Bottle unfined and unfiltered with only minimal sulphur at bottling.
Pale lemon colour. Wild, intense and focused, with a bouquet of bright lemon and light touches of oak and caramel. A lively mouthfeel that showcases creamy lemon, green apple, pineapple and peach flavours. A classic minerality runs through the beautifully balanced and subtle palate. Classic yet trippy, closing with a lingering angular finish.
