Description
Rovertondo Valpolicella Ripasso DOP Superiore 2018
A solid Ripasso that rivals many Amarones (taste it to believe it).The Rovertondo Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore is extra rich and full of character with fruit such as cherry and plum. It has a deep bright red and aroma of fully ripe and fruity notes with sweet cherries, plums and a hint of sweet oak. It is powerful yet has a rounded and smooth taste with grip of acid for the right balance. Rich in fleshy cherries and plums with a fatty texture and a spicy finish. A sturdy Ripasso that sweeps many Amarone off the table.
A blend of 80% Corvina, 10% Rondinella ad 10% Corvinone. The vineyards are situated in a hilly area at 150 – 200 m above sea level. The grapes were crushed and destemmed, followed by maceration and fermentation at a controlled temperature of 22-26°C for 8 – 10 days. At the end of Decmber, the wine is passed over the skins of Amarone to acquire more body and complexity. The wine matures in 5-20-40 hectolitre French and American oak barrels for 12 months.
