Pio Cesare Barbera d'Alba 2018

Pio Cesare Barbera d'Alba 2018 is different from any other Barbera you've had.
Ruby colour with garnet reflections. Ripe blackberries, dark plums and black cherry fruit with a touch of chocolate, tobacco and leathery spice. The palate is dry and medium-bodied with a balance of soft tannins and high acidity. A dichotomy of fleshiness and softness. It has a strong and wild energy typical of Barbera, but the refined elegance of Barolo. Supple and juicy with great fruit flavours and complexity.

100% Barbera. The grapes come from selected vineyards in the villages of Monforte and Castiglione Falletto, and Pio Cesare's vineyards in the villages of Serralunga and Treiso. The fruit undergoes a careful selection to eliminate all imperfect grapes. Long maceration on lees for 20–25 days in stainless steel at a temperature of 24–25 degrees. Ageing for 12 months with 30% in mid-toasted French oak barriques and 70%  in 20–50 hectolitre French oak casks.
Top Tip: Decant for one or two hours before serving!
