Olivier Leflaive Bourgogne Cuvée Margot 2017

A mouthwatering Burgundy at a delightful price!
Light ruby colour. The flattering nose is dominated by ripe red fruits – a medley of red cherry, strawberry and raspberry. The fresh and elegant palate offers crunchy red fruit flavours framed with toasty oak, liquorice and warm spices. Fine tannins and a lively acidity create a balanced texture that supports the wine's purity and character.
The Cuvée Margot is sourced from a variety of terroir within the Côte de Beaune, with a large percentage sourced within the village of Pommard. It's a blend of vineyards from about 20 different plots, from Puligny-Montrachet to Pernand-Vergelesses and old vineyards in les Hautes Côtes. The soil in these vineyards is a combination of limestone and clay. The grapes are manually harvested, strictly sorted and destemmed. They then go through a long cool fermentation in open vats for a total of 15–20 days. The wine ages in oak barrels (90%), of which 12% are new, for 15 months and in stainless steel tanks (10%) for 3 months.

A note of pure cherry is framed by toasty oak accents in this polished red. Earth and spice details peek through as this winds down on the finish. Drink now through 2004. 400 cases imported
Sourced from the Côte de Beaune, this wine is smooth, juicy, packed with red-cherry fruits and pretty much ready to drink. A few tannins maintain the wine's shape as well as final acidity. Drink now.
The 2017 Bourgogne Rouge Cuvée Margot bursts with expressive scents of cherries, incense and licorice. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and open-knit, with an enveloping, tangy core of fruit and melting tannins.
A restrained and pungently earthy nose speaks mostly of dark berries trimmed in soft spice wisps. The lighter weight but not dilute flavors offer acceptable depth and persistence on the mildly rustic finale.
