Merum Priorati Inici 2019

Merum Priorati Inici is a pleasant encounter with a firm expression of character. Clean cherry red colour in the glass. Rich red fruit nose with a touch of vanilla, cedar wood and aniseed. The dry and medium-bodied palate has a lively acidity and velvety tannins. Fresh and fruity blueberry, black cherry, raspberry and red currant flavours are made complex with laters of vanilla and oak spices. Closes in a long, elegant finish.

Blend of 60% Garnacha, 15% Carignan, 15% Syrah and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes come exclusively from the estate's three vineyards, which make a total of 29 hectares planted with vines. The vineyards are on the hillsides of Porrera village and have a slate terrain that is locally known as “llicorella”.

Manual harvesting, destemming and gentle pressing of the grapes using a pneumatic horizontal press. Fermentation in steel vats at a controlled temperature. Matures for 8–12 months in French oak barrels. No filtering or fining before bottling.
