La Tour Melas Silphium Rose 2019

La Tour Melas Silphium Rose 2019 got its name 'Silphium' from a rare and precious Roman herb that is now lost to us. Read more about the mystery of the lost Roman herb here.
Bright salmon colour. The bouquet is a meander through a field of white flowers, white peach trees and red berry fruits. Its medium-bodied palate offers a creamy mouthfeel and crunchy acidity. Ripe strawberry, red cherry and raspberry flavours with notes of brioche, caramel, vanilla, sweet peach and mango. A rare and mature wine, fresh and delightful until the last drop.

60% Grenache Rouge and 40% Syrah. After the phenomenal success of Idylle d'Achinos, the first Greek rose wine in a Province style, Kyros Melas is raising the bar even higher. Silphium is a rose unlike any other. This rose comprises a blend of old vine Grenache Rouge and Syrah from a vineyard in Achinos village, Fthiotida. The vineyard sits at an altitude of 160 metres and has clayey soils.
Harvesting of the grapes is done by hand, then go through a meticulous selection. 15% of the wine ages in new French oak barriques, while the rest mature in stainless steel tanks on fine lees for 7 months.
