Description
Kooyong Beurrot Pinot Gris
This is about as good as Pinot Gris ever gets.
Fresh, aromatic and dry. The bouquet offers ripe apple and crisp white pear with a hint of wild flowers and citrus. Rich and smooth with fruity flavours of apple, a touch of peach, lemon peel, honey and nutty spice. Full-bodied with a vibrant acidity and a crisp, long finish.
Kooyong is one of the Mornington Peninsula's most iconic wineries. Meticulous sustainable viticulture and sensitive minimalist winemaking produces site-expressive wines of detail and structure. The 100% Pinot Gris grapes were gently whole-bunch pressed into old French oak barriques, where fermentation occurred spontaneously with ambient yeasts. Ages for 10 months on yeast lees.

AWARDS & ACCOLADESHALLIDAY WINE COMPANION - 94 POINTS
This was once chardonnay-like across its oak-derived vanillins and lees-inflected midriff, mealy and creamy. Now a swan, exhibiting more gris-centric genetics and all the better for it: slippery. Viscous. Nashi pear and ripe apple gelato flavours teem across the midriff, directed by a sash of almond-soused phenolics and mineral tension. About as good as gris gets.
