Juliusspital Würzburger Riesling Trocken 2014

Clear yellow colour. This dry Riesling has an intense nose of white peaches, fresh apples and hints of citrus. Its high acidity makes every sip so refreshing. Chalky mineral notes complement super fruity flavours of ripe green apples, lemon and lime citrus, and gentle sweet peach.

Juliusspital is a very old Franconian winery and the second largest in Germany. The Juliusspital vineyards spread across more than 100 km and the whole of Franconia. Their vines grow on the Franconian Triassic – a three-part rock formation made of red sandstone, shell limestone and keuper. They cultivate through sustainable viticulture with "gentle pruning" and strict yield reduction. The wine ages in oak barrels in their 250-metre-long cellar corridor. Built in 1699 by Antonio Petrini, it is the longest wooden barrel cellar in Germany and is lined with 220 oak barrels.
