Originated in France, Burgundy. chardonnay is seen as the grape representative captivating the region's Terrior. Chardonnay is pretty nuch the grape behind all the white wines in Burgundy, Chablis, Mersault, Pugliny, Chassagne Montrachet.
Chardonnay is the most widely planted and distributed white grape in the world - for the purpose of wine. With that, comes a variety of flavours depending on where the grapes are grown.
Did you know Chardonnay is a relatively neutral grape variety flavor and aroma wise? The flavor it achieves comes from malolactic fermentation, oak aging etc. Its like tofu - plain on its own but fermentation or adding spices changes its taste and smell!
