Description
Grattamacco Rosso Bolgheri Superiore "L'Alberello" DOC 2014
Eclectic, elegant and with finesse. Grattamacco's L'Alberello is a robust, opulent and intense Bordeaux blend that'll have you vying for more.
Garnet red with a sparkle. Packs a punch of character with ripe cassis and blackberry fruit plus dominant notes of leather and coffee. The wine has a cabernet franc backbone, complex structure and silky tannins. Delicious lingering black fruit finish.
From a 2 hectare vineyard 100m above sea level that enjoys a gentle Mediterranean climate. The vineyards were cultivated with an ancestral method called "settonce" with a vine training system called Alberello or Bush. A blend comprising of 70% cabernet sauvignon, 25% cabernet franc and 5% petit verdot. Hand-picked and carefully selected from vineyards with a very low yield. Fermentation occurs in open wooden vats with a manual punching down for the gentle extraction of tannins. Aged in French oak barriques for 18 months, followed by 12 months of refinement in bottle.
Top tip: Serve and drink from larger glasses!
