Gorghi Tondi Meridiano 12 Syrah Sicilia DOC 2021
Gorghi Tondi Meridiano 12 Syrah is a fruity, elegant and spicy wine from a unique place of beauty. Light ruby red colour with violet reflections. Fruity nose of raspberry, blackberry and cherry aromas that has hints of sage and black pepper. Rich and intense on the full-bodied palate with soft, well-balanced tannins and an excellent persistence.
100% Syrah. The fruit for this wine comes from a 17-year-old vineyard in the Ramisella district of Mazara del Vallo, south-western Sicily. The vineyard has a density of 4,600 vines per hectare, is trained with single cordon spur pruning, and produces about 7.5 tons of fuit. The vineyard is found at an altitude of about 25 metres and has flat, medium-textured soil tending to clay.
Harvesting the fruit in the first half of September. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, with a maceration of 2 weeks. Malolactic fermentation and then the wine ages on lees in stainless steel tanks for 7 months.
