Description

Gorghi Tondi Coste A Preola Nero d'Avola Sicilia DOC 2021

Gorghi Tondi Coste A Preola is the emblem of the beauty of a unique territory suited to quality viticulture for millennia. Bright ruby red colour with violet reflections. Complex and pleasantly spicy nose with hints of black cherries and wild berries. Rich and intense palate with well-balanced tannins and an excellent persistence.

Fun Fact: Coste a Preola is the name chosen to pay tribute to Sicily and its biodiversity: this is the name of the vineyards' area, located in this western part of the island, close to the Mediterranean Sea and to the WWF Nature Reserve Lake Preola and Gorghi Tondi.

100% Nero d'Avola. The fruit for this wine comes from a 14-year-old vineyard in the Ramisella district of south-western Sicily, close to the Mediterranean Sea, the WWF Nature Reserve Lake Preola and Gorghi Tondi. The vineyard has a density of 4,600 vines per hectare, is trained with a single guyot, and produces about 6.5 tons of fuit. The vineyard is found at an altitude of about 25 metres and has flat, medium-textured soil tending to sandy.

Harvesting the fruit in the second half of September. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature with a maceration of 2 weeks. Malolactic fermentation and then the wine ages on lees in stainless steel tanks for 7 months.
