Technically this is Côtes-du-Rhône Villages rather than the family's home turf of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, but it's farmed with the same biodynamic hand as everything else at the domaine — Duseigneur has been Biodyvin-certified since 2002, among the earliest wave of biodynamic converts in the southern Rhône.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eTaste Profile\u003c\/strong\u003e: Black raspberry, spring flowers, white pepper and spice on the nose, with a savoury, faintly menthol edge underneath. The palate is ample and warm, fleshy and silky, with real structure that never tips into heaviness. Hand-harvested and partially destemmed, with each variety fermented separately in cement vats on native yeasts before blending — no oak involved, so what comes through is fruit and terroir rather than barrel spice.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWinemaker\u003c\/strong\u003e: Bernard Duseigneur runs the estate his father Jean built from nothing in 1967, after Jean left his homeland on the other side of the Mediterranean to start again in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
