Tinazzi Diodoro Primitivo di Manduria 2018
Provocative bottle of Primitivo, which surprises any wine connoisseur with its amazing structure and power.
This classy bottle of Diodoro Primitivo di Manduria has a deep and dense colour. It has a generous perfume that evokes plums and ripe red fruits and a hint of cinnamon. It is powerful yet elegant on the palate with enough tannins. The mouthfeel is warm and enveloping with fill body and persistent. The light residual sweetness matches the long and dense finish.
The wine consists of 100% Primitivo di Manduria from selected vineyards in the Taranto area. The grapes are selected and harvested by hand and are crushed and destemmed before maceration and fermentation at a controlled temperature of 22 – 26°C for 10 – 15 days. This is followed by gentle pressing over time. The maturation takes place in French and American barrique and tonneaux for 6 – 12 months.
The Primitivo grapes for Diodoro come from the vineyards of the Tinazzi family, who took over the Cantine San Giorgio from the province of Taranto (Apulia ) in 2009 . This is where the grapevines are at home on the Salento peninsula, which offers a good balance of temperatures during the day and also at night and is therefore considered the best area for wine production in Puglia.
Diodoro - a name from a time that is described as one of the most magnificent in Apulia's wine history. A time when Puglia flourished under the influence of Greek immigrants, especially in wine culture.
