Description
Château Morillon Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2019
Château Morillon Saint-Émilion Grand Cru is a charming, polished and satisfying Bordeaux blend. Soft, juicy and approachable. The dry and full-bodied palate offers ripe red fruit flavours, subtle notes of vanilla spice and herbal earthy tones. Tannins add structure to the finish.
Ageing potential: Keep until 2028.
80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The fruit for this wine comes from Château Morillon's organic 40-year-old vines in a 6.3 hectare plot in Saint-Émilion. The vines grow in clay-silt soils on a gentle, sloping hill that ensures good sun exposure and vineyard health throughout the year. Thanks to the nearby Atlantic Ocean, they also benefit from an oceanic climate, where mild temperatures, mature springs, and late long autumns give an optimal ripeness to the grapes.
Pre-fermentation cold maceration and traditional winemaking in a mix of thermo-regulated concrete and stainless steel vats. The blend is created after malolactic fermentation, then around half the wine matures in oak barrels (50% new) and the remainder in vat. Blending and bottling after 12 months maturation.
