Description
Benoît Courault Le Petit Chemin 2020
Benoît Courault Le Petit Chemin is created by one of the best winemakers in the Loire. Opens with a fresh nose of yellow apples, pears and honeysuckle aromas over a chalky mineral undertone. The medium-bodied palate has a crisp acidity and offers generous lemon and lime citrus flavours supported by a saline mineral backbone.
100% Chenin Blanc. The fruit comes from Benoit's youngest vines from a 0.7 hectare plot his vineyard extension Le Prieuré, located within Faye d’Anjou, a little village south of Angers along the Layon river. With its use of horses to plow the land and organic farming practices, the vineyard is as close to a farm-garden as it could be.
Hand harvesting and then direct pressing of the fruit. Fermentation with wild yeasts in large foudre, then the wine ages in the same large foudre for a short while before bottling. No fining or filtration before bottling.
