Description

Alexandre Giquel Vouvray 2021

Vouvray lies in the blood of Alexandre Giquel, who grew up in the region. He has spent years in the traditional techniques of training horses to work on the vineyards, and now produces his own expressive style of Vouvray in the traditional practice.

Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Chenin Blanc. The fruit comes from Alexandre Giquel's vines in Vouvray, Loire. The vines are naturally farmed using horses to plow the fields and grow in clay soils with silex, a subsoil of Tuffeau.

Taste Profile: Alexandre Giquel Vouvray has bright tones of beeswax and honey with a hint of underripe apricot and yeasty notes. Balanced Chenin Blanc with a fantastic acidity. Pairs perfectly with an evening of good banter.

Winemaking Process: Minimal intervention in the cellar. Pressing using an old vaselin, fermentation in neutral tanks, malolactic fermentation in old barrels. The wine goes through barrel ageing in caves.
