Description
Alexandre Giquel Maluseaux 2021
Alexandre Giquel Maluseaux exemplifies the more serious and contemplative side of Gamay. The nose opens with a burst of bright candied raspberries, currants and strawberries aromas with notes of wet earth, mushroom and liquorice dancing around the periphery. The aromas follow through to the palate, where the earthy tones and darker kirsch fruit are brought forward. The weighty palate has a real vibrancy and energy thanks to its well-integrated acidity and fine grit tannins.
100% Gamay. The fruit comes from Alexandre's old parcel of vines, which were planted in 1967 and represent a massal selection. The vines grow in clay soils with silex, a subsoil of Tuffeau.
Minimal intervention in the cellar. Pressing using an old vaselin, semi-carbonic maceration and some extraction. Fermentation with wild yeasts in neutral barrels. No fining or filtering before bottling with minimal sulphites.
