Vignamaggio Terre di Prenzano Chianti Classico DOCG 2017
From an avant-garde organic farm and wine cellar with over 600 years of history! Vignamaggio is one of Tuscany’s oldest farming estates and a leading winery in the Chianti subzone, Greve.
Fun fact: Rumour has it that Mona Lisa, Leonardo da Vinci’s muse, was born here in 1479 and Vignamaggio’s finest Chianti is named in her honour.
The Prenzano podere was an old Vignamaggio homestead. The Chianti Classico Terre di Prenzano wine grapes grow on this predominantly south-west facing land, only a few hundred metres from the villa. Terre di Prenzano is a vintage Chianti Classico produced with 100% Sangiovese grapes. After hand-picking and destemming, the grapes go through 14 days of maceration. The wine ages for 10–12 months in 20–40 hectolitre oak barrels. Finally, it goes through refinement in bottles for at least 3 months.
Intense red colour. The fresh, fruity bouquet exudes generous and ripe red fruits. Red cherry, strawberry, raspberry and prune flavours are complemented by subtle notes of vanilla and blueberry. A well-structured palate with gine tannins and a balanced finish.
