Description
Strenua Yarra Syrah 2016
An alluring and captivating organic wine from an up-and-coming winery in Yarra Valley, Australia.
This is not your typical Aussie Shiraz, but we knew it would be a winner from the first whiff. Beautifully pure and refined, whole bunch and funky aromas straight up. Fresh dark berry fruit aromas dominate the nose, with secondary hints of white pepper spice, smoky game and minerals. Dry with a fresh acidity and soft tannins for a balanced palate.
Picked from a cool site in the Yarra Valley that is farmed with organic and biodynamic principles. Seaweed, fish emulsions and horn manure are utilised to provide nutrients, as well as encourage biological activity. The vineyard is composed of grey clay loam soils and is situated 400 metres above sea level. The grapes are handpicked and fermented with wild yeasts. 85% whole bunch with no pumping over or plunging during. The wine matures for 6 months in 500 litre puncheons. No fining or filtration. Completely naturally with nothing added along the way.
