Patrick Sullivan Amazon Pinot Noir 2016
From a young Australian winemaker who may seem to have burst onto the wine scene overnight. This is far from the truth however, as Patrick has studied, travelled and worked hard in unrecognised roles for years before entering the well-deserved limelight. Patrick Sullivan works with his wife Megan in Yarra Valley to produce authentic wines that reflect the terroir. They produce different wines that sell out almost immediately.
Amazon is a beautifully soft, textural and succulent Pinot Noir. Ruby red colour. On the aromatic nose, fresh raspberries, wild berries, dark plums and red cherries are followed by notes of alpine herbs, forest floor and pepper. The palate is light, fresh and well-balanced with ripe red summer fruit flavours. Medium-bodied and dry, with fine tannins and a crunchy acidity. Closes with a persistent and charismatic finish. We love it!
The grapes are sourced from organic and biodynamic vineyards. In the cellar, the wines receive minimal intervention. Fermentation and refining take place in steel tanks or ceramic eggs, but ageing occurred in wooden barrels for this Pinot Noir.
