Dr Wehrheim Riesling Buntstück VDP.Gutswein 2016
A summer wine like a fresh breeze, this is the perfect introduction to organic German Rieslings.
Appears with a greenish-yellow delicacy. Fine aromas lift from the glass with fruity accents of peach, quince, lime and wild berries. Very crisp, dry and light in the mouth. Flavours of tropical mango and sweet melon blend with zesty lime, sweet quince and peaches on the palate. Refreshing, acidic and balanced with subtle traces of noble minerality.
Sourced from vines grown in the weathered soils of approximately 250 million years old red sandstone (Buntsandstein). Buntsandstein is the predominant geological formation in the Palatinate (Pfalz) and owes its yellow to deep red colour to changing iron oxide content. The grapes go through selective hand-picking, destemming and maceration time before a gentle pressing. The juice is subsequently fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and aged in the cellar of the historic Art Nouveau farm.
