Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de lalande Reserve Pauillac 2013
Reserve de La Comtesse has a medium body with notes of black fruits, floral and cherry. It has a chewy tannins that are polished and refined but intense.
A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. Grapes are harvested and sorted by hand, and then macerated for 20-30 days and fermented at 28-32°C in temperature controlled stainless steel vats of varying size. The wine is then transferred into oak barrels for aging after finishing its malolactic fermentation.

A pleasant second wine from Pichon Lalande with currant and plum character, medium body and a fresh finish. Drink now.

The 2013 Reserve de la Comtesse has a rather surly bouquet, a seaweed note that infuses the black fruit, perhaps just missing a little intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, a tad sour on the entry and just needing more depth in the “shallow” middle. This is a wine I would drink in the next 4-5 years while waiting for superior vintages to reach their drinking windows.
