Description

Blankbottle The Bomb 2020

Blankbottle The Bomb is a complex and bold red wine from South Africa, crafted by renowned winemaker Pieter H. Walser.

Grape Varietals & Region: This vintage is a unique blend of seven different vineyards of Cabernet Sauvignon, along with a splash of Cabernet Franc & Petit Verdot, resulting in a rich and full-bodied wine with a depth of flavors. The Cabernet Sauvignon and the Petit Verdot grow on the Helderberg facing the Stellenbosch mountain and the Cabernet Franc on the Stellenbosch mountain facing the Helderberg.

Taste Profile: On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of dark berries, blackcurrant, and vanilla, with subtle hints of tobacco and spices. On the palate, it showcases a firm tannic structure, with flavors of ripe black fruits, plum, and chocolate, leading to a long and satisfying finish. Perfectly balanced, this wine is a great match for hearty meat dishes or enjoyed on its own as a treat.

Winemaking Process: The grapes were picked at optimal ripeness and cooled overnight to 4 degrees celsius. The next morning the grapes were destemmed to open top fermenters. The juice underwent spontaneous fermentation and stayed on the skins for as long as possible. Pressed into older French oak small barrels, 18 months in barrel, blended and bottled.
