Azienda Agricola Corte Moschina

Maria Patrizia Niero purchased the 35 hectare estate of Corte Moschina in 1998, but the land has been farmed since the 16th Century. Maria's sons, Alessandro (winemaker) and Giacomo Danese (vineyard manager), now lead the winery.

Description

Corte Moschina Purocaso "Sui Lieviti" 2021

Grape varietal & region: 100% Durella. The fruit comes from vines growing in the basalt-rich volcanic soils of the Roncà hills, Veneto.

Taste profile: Corte Moschina Purocaso "Sui Lieviti" is an exuberant and energetic sparkling wine. Cloudy pale yellow colour. Notes of chamomile and toasted almonds emerge from the glass, before evolving towards lime citrus and cedar flavours with every savoury sip.

Winemaking process: Temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation at harvest, second fermentation the following spring – a slow refermentation in the bottle. After 3 months refinement in the bottle, the wine is sold on the lees.

Ancestral Method

Also known as Petillant Naturel, it's the oldest version of sparkling wine making, and involves bottling the wine before fermentation has finished. A single fermentation is applied, trapping carbon dioxide to create natural carbonation.
This results in a little less control, and wines can sometimes come across a less refined compare to the traditional champagne method, and sometimes tends to have a slightly more beer-ish or cider-ish taste
