Description

Weingut Schmitt Spatburgunder 2020

Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Spatburgunder, from Flörsheim-Dalsheim, in Rheinhessen, Germany. The vines are located around the Wonnegau village of Flörsheim-Dalsheim on slightly sloping soils and heavier soils made from a loam-clay-calcareous marl mixture.

Taste Profile: Light and perfumed, it smells of sour cherries, herbs, some must, earth and undergrowth. On the palate it has a mellow tannin, is fine in the acidity and has a medium-bodied body. The reverberation is of medium length and carries the juicy impressions.

Winemaking Process: After the selective hand-picking, the grapes are mashed and spontaneously fermented with yeasts native to the vineyard. The expansion of the Pinot Noir takes place after 6 weeks of maceration in a 4500l wooden barrel without temperature control or other influences. After aging, the wine is bottled unsulfured and unfiltered.
