Description

Bachelet-Monnot Maranges 1er La Fussiere Rouge 2021

Bachelet-Monnot Maranges 1er La Fussiere Rouge

Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Pinot Noir. The fruit for this wine comes from a single vineyard and is perhaps the finest terroir in Maranges, Burgundy - at the very south of the Côte de Beaune, next to Santenay), covering an area of almost 35 hectares. It has a southerly exposure, directly towards the start of the Côte Chalonnaise, on a slope at an altitude between 290 and 400-metres. With the addition of a new parcel in 2020, the Bachelet vines cover three hectares with an average age of 60 years.

Taste Profile: Bursting with aromas of red cherry, berries and violets. The medium to full-bodied and dry palate has a velvety texture, lively acidity and fine tannins. Expressive core of lush red cherry and raspberry fruit, orange zest and red currant with a crisp, fresh minerality. Closes in a long mouthwatering saline finish.

Winemaking Process:  Eleven different parcels are blended to make this cuvée. This wine spent roughly 12 months in used casks and was then racked to cement vats where it rested for roughly six months. 30% whole bunch and some oak ageing. Drink 2023–2032.
