Description

Athénaïs de Béru Amalgamay 2020

Athénaïs de Béru Amalgamay is an extraordinary wine that captures the essence of innovation and elegance. Crafted with meticulous care and a touch of playfulness, this wine showcases the winemaker's expertise and creativity.

Grape Varietals & Region: Athénaïs de Béru Amalgamay is a unique blend of carefully selected grape varietals. An unusual blend of gamay from Beaujolais and aligoté from Saint Bris. The aligoté brings a lovely freshness to this delicious gamay blend.

Taste Profile: Prepare your palate for a sensory adventure with Athénaïs de Béru Amalgamay. It enchants with a bouquet of enticing aromas, ranging from ripe berries and dark fruits to delicate floral notes. On the palate, the wine reveals a symphony of flavors, with layers of fruit, hints of spice, and a touch of earthiness. Its well-balanced structure, silky tannins, and vibrant acidity contribute to a lingering and memorable finish.

Winemaking Process: The grapes are harvested by hand, which have been cultivated in harmony with the nature. Spontaneous co-fermentation in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts, no fining, no filtration, no sulphites added. Vatting in Burgundy barrels of several wines. Aging 12 to 18 months in steel tanks.

Athénaïs de Béru - the talented vigneron at the helm of this 400-year-old family Château de Béru - is one of the rising stars in Chablis. At a relatively high 400m elevation, the south-facing Béru slope is ideal for the production of ripe, healthy grapes. Although farming biodynamically and making her wines with minimal sulphur additions, Athénaïs is wary of the dogma surrounding natural wines; the domaine takes a pragmatic approach to 'hands-off' farming.
