Description
Gorghi Tondi Dumè Frappato Sicilia DOC 2021
Gorghi Tondi Dumè is an intense and refreshing red that should be drunk in the presence of cheerful and carefree company. Light ruby red colour with violet reflections. Complex and fragrant nose of blackberry, raspberry and pomegranate fruit. The palate is fresh with good structure, velvety tannins and a juicy acidity.
Top Tip: Drink it slightly chilled!
100% Frappato. The fruit for this wine comes from one of the youngest vineyards of the estate in south-western Sicily, close to the Mediterranean Sea, the WWF Nature Reserve Lake Preola and Gorghi Tondi. The 6-year-old vineyard has a density of 4,600 vines per hectare, is trained with a single guyot cane pruning, and produces about 10 tons of fruit. The vineyard is found at an altitude of about 25 metres and has flat, medium-textured soil tending to sandy.
Harvesting the fruit in the second half of September. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature with a maceration of 10 days. Malolactic fermentation and then the wine ages on lees in stainless steel tanks for 5 months. Ages in bottle for an additional 2 months before release.
